Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do here at Polyseam. As an industry leader in passive fire protection products, we understand the importance of reducing our environmental footprint and continually seek ways to innovate and operate in a more eco-friendly manner. Our ongoing commitment to sustainability has led us to take significant steps to minimise our carbon footprint, from installing solar panels to electrifying our fleet and factory.
Powering Our Operations with Renewable Energy
Since October 2017, Polyseam has been harnessing the power of solar energy to fuel our operations. We’ve seen remarkable progress, including saving 59,169kg of CO2 in 2023 alone, demonstrating how solar energy has contributed to reducing our environmental impact. But we didn’t stop there—last week, we installed additional solar panels, increasing our renewable energy generation by a further 36%. This expansion allows us to power more of our operations with clean, renewable energy, reinforcing our pledge to move towards a more sustainable future.
Our use of solar energy is just one part of our wider strategy to reduce reliance on non-renewable energy sources. By investing in solar power, we’re making strides in cutting our carbon emissions and reducing the environmental impact of our day-to-day operations.
Electric and Hybrid Vehicles for a Greener Fleet
In addition to our solar initiatives, Polyseam has taken bold steps to reduce emissions across our transportation network. All of our company cars are now either fully electric or hybrid, significantly reducing fuel consumption and carbon output. Our goal is to eliminate our reliance on traditional fossil-fuel vehicles, ensuring that every trip we make is as green as possible.
The shift to electric vehicles (EVs) is part of our broader commitment to sustainability, helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while promoting cleaner air and a healthier planet. By embracing these technologies, we’re leading by example, not only in our industry but also within the community.
Electric Forklifts for a Clean Factory Environment
Our commitment to sustainability also extends to our factory operations. All forklifts used within our production facility are fully electric, contributing to a cleaner, quieter, and more energy-efficient workplace. The adoption of electric forklifts has helped reduce emissions within our facility, improving air quality and ensuring a healthier environment for our employees.
Green Initiatives in the Workplace
Sustainability isn’t just about the products we manufacture—it’s about the entire work environment. In the reception area of our head office, we’ve installed a living green wall. This vertical garden not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of our space but also improves indoor air quality by absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen.
Additionally, we’ve made considerable progress toward becoming a paperless operation. By digitising processes and reducing our reliance on paper-based communication, we’re decreasing waste and improving operational efficiency.
Looking Ahead: A Greener Future
As we look to the future, we are focused on expanding our green initiatives, exploring new ways to reduce our environmental impact and further integrating sustainability into our operations. From renewable energy and electric vehicles to environmentally conscious production processes and waste reduction, we’re dedicated to making a positive difference for our planet.
