At Polyseam, safety is built through people. It is shaped by the decisions made on the shop floor, the standards followed every day, and the confidence to act when something is not right.
That is why training and development are not treated as one-off activities. They are part of how we operate, how we lead, and how we deliver on our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitments.
Investing in people strengthens capability.
It improves consistency.
It builds a safer, more reliable business.
BUILDING A SAFER WORKPLACE THROUGH IOSH MANAGING SAFELY TRAINING
As part of our ongoing commitment to professional development, our full shop floor supervisory team, together with colleagues in Quality Control and Logistics, has completed and passed the IOSH Managing Safely course.
This training focuses on giving supervisors the practical tools to manage safety effectively in real working environments. It supports better decision-making, clearer accountability, and a more structured approach to managing risk. In a manufacturing setting, this has a direct impact.
Supervisors are responsible for maintaining standards, supporting teams, and identifying issues early. Strengthening their knowledge helps ensure that safety is managed consistently across the business, not reactively.
The course supports core capabilities such as:
- Identifying hazards before they become incidents
- Assessing and controlling risks in day-to-day operations
- Understanding responsibilities around health and safety
- Leading teams with greater confidence and clarity
This is where safety becomes embedded in how work is done.

SUPPORTING ISO 45001 AND CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
This investment also strengthens our alignment with ISO 45001, the international standard for occupational health and safety management. ISO 45001 is built around prevention, accountability, and continuous improvement. It requires organisations to go beyond compliance and actively manage risk across all levels of the business.
Training plays a key role in making that effective.
It ensures that systems are understood.
It supports consistent application of standards.
It enables people to take ownership of safety in their roles.
By developing our supervisors and teams, we are reinforcing a structured and proactive approach to safety that supports long-term operational performance.
STRENGTHENING IN-HOUSE CAPABILITY WITH FACE FIT TRAINING
This investment directly supports our commitment to ISO 45001, the international standard for occupational health and safety management.
ISO 45001 is not just about compliance; it’s about creating a structured approach to:
- Preventing work-related injury and ill health
- Embedding a strong safety culture
- Driving continuous improvement across operations
Training plays a key role in making this effective.
- It turns policy into practice.
- It gives people the confidence to act.
- It ensures standards are applied consistently, every day.
STRENGTHENING IN-HOUSE CAPABILITY WITH FACE FIT TRAINING
Alongside IOSH Managing Safely, four colleagues have completed BSIF-accredited Train the Trainer Face Fit training. This is a practical investment in protecting our people. Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) must fit correctly to be effective. Without proper fit testing, the level of protection can be compromised.
By building this capability internally, we can maintain high standards across the site and respond more effectively to operational needs.
This training allows us to:
- Deliver face-fit testing in-house to a recognised standard
- Maintain consistency in respiratory protection practices
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to teams
- Strengthen compliance with UK safety requirements
It is a clear example of how targeted training can directly improve workplace safety.
A PEOPLE-FIRST APPROACH TO CSR
At Polyseam, CSR is not separate from the business. It is part of how we operate every day. Investing in training supports more than just compliance. It contributes to a wider responsibility to our people, our customers, and the environments we work in.
This approach helps us to:
- Support employee wellbeing and long-term development
- Create safer working conditions across all departments
- Maintain high operational and manufacturing standards
- Build trust with customers and partners
By developing our people, we are strengthening the foundations of a responsible and sustainable business.
CREATING A CULTURE THAT PUTS PEOPLE FIRST
These achievements reflect more than completed training courses. They show the direction we are taking as a business. We are building a culture where people are supported to grow, where standards are clear, and where safety is led through action.
That means:
- Encouraging continuous learning across teams
- Reinforcing accountability at every level
- Supporting leadership on the shop floor
- Embedding safety into daily operations
Because strong teams create strong businesses, and strong businesses are built on people who are equipped, supported, and confident in what they do.
POLYSEAM’S ONGOING COMMITMENT
We will continue to invest in our people, our systems, and our standards.
This includes:
- Developing leadership capability across the business
- Strengthening our approach to safety and risk management
- Supporting continuous improvement in line with ISO 45001
- Delivering on our CSR commitments in practical ways
This is how we strengthen our operations.
This is how we support our teams.
This is how we deliver on our CSR commitments.
