With the new Protecta FR Collar technical update, the collar can now be used as a retrofit solution for a wider range of plastic pipes (different types and sizes), for all common substrates ranging up to 400mm diameter. Collars can also be fitted in the empty condition i.e. with no cables, future proofing new cable installations in existing buildings.
Notable additions to the new approved plastic pipe portfolio include Aquatherm Green SDR9, Geberit Silent Pipe, Wavin Si Tech pipe amongst others.

The Protecta FR Collar technical update has added the advantage of being able to be fitted on top of the concrete floor slab, where access is difficult below. And larger FR Collars, over small pipe diameters can accommodate annular gaps of up to 22.5mm between the pipe and inside of the collar. This is particularly useful for smaller pipes in core drilled holes and where plastic pipes pass through walls and floors are angles.

Allow steel and copper pipe to be fitted with combustible insulation (including elastomeric, PE and Phenolic) and run continuously through walls and floors, without the need to remove the insulation through the fire compartment. This is an added benefit for the building owner in terms of reducing their overall energy consumption and reduces the risk of setting up condensation problems, for example breaking vapour barriers around chilled water pipes.
